- Since posting my collection of phonetic alphabets recently
- I have found some further information. From a Hungarian
- telephone directory the following Hungarian alphabet:
-
- Andra's Be'la Cecil Do'ra Eleme'r Ferenc Gizella Hajnalka
- Istva'n Ja'nos Katalin Luca Ma'tya's Na'ndor Olga Piroska
- Queen Ro'bert Sarolta Ti'mea Ubul Vilmos Walter Xe'nia
- Ypsilon Zolta'n
-
-
- I now have reason to believe that the Amsterdam Baltimore
- Edison Florida alphabet is [supposed to be] French.

- 'lo all!
- I was snopping at arrl.org and I saw a lot of progs that I want to
- come to my account... but the problem is that ARRL's BBS doesn't
- support (does it?) ftp.... and a call from Chile to USA is too
- expensive to do.. :)
- I'm looking for a good ftp site where U can login as anonymous
- (or guest or anything U like.. ) and get all teh progs U want.....
- If somebody have a clue to do it please let me know.... please don't
- e-mail to this account but to rrodrigu@loa.disca.utfsm.cl... and
- please don't post replys on netnews 'cause I haven't an easy way to
- acces news... :(
- Thanks in advance for any information.......

- The best way to hook the FT-411E up to power is to get the cigarette lighter
- adapter and then make a connection to a power supply of 3 amps or so.
- The 'E' model has an enhanced processor that works a little better is all..

- Unless I am mistaken, I think the only real difference between the 411 and

- it is extra for the 411.

- SAREX Keps & Update 10/30
-
- Saturday 10/30/93 @ 00:00 UTC
-
- Since all scheduled SAREX activities are now complete, several general
- QSO opportunities are available. While the SAREX Working Group cannot
- fully guarantee that the crew will be operating, there is a high
- probability that the STS-58 astronauts will be ready to take general calls
- over the continental U.S. on these passes. These opportunities include a
- pass on orbit 192 at MET 11 days 22 hours and 29 minutes (10/30 at 13:22 UTC)
- and a pass on orbit 193 at MET 12 days 0 hours 6 minutes (10/30 at 14:49 UTC).
- Please note that many hams on the ground heard or worked the Shuttle Columbia
- crew on several orbits today. Both voice and packet modes were operating.
-
- Element set GSFC-031, generated by Ron Parise, WA4SIR, will continue to be
- the official SAREX element set for today. On orbit 181 Gil Carman, WA5NOM,
- of the Johnson Space Center compared the orbiter state vector to GSFC-031.
- The state vector was 6 seconds later than this element set. Other later
- element sets (e.g. GSFC-038) are currently less accurate than GSFC-031.

- Duane is right. Also, in 5 or 6 years, the price of the rigs may go up.
- I'd like people to do 2 things:
-
- 1. Fire up the 10M rigs aperiodically just to see if 10M is alive and
- keep the electrolytics conditioned within the rig.
-
- 2. Check for drug trafficers and 'free banders' on the low end of the
- band. Once they move in, we'll have hell getting rid of 'em.
- Might be a chance for you to practice some of your code here. :-)
- Another reason to learn the code. They won't know who it is or what
- is going on. You simulate a 'fox hunt' by keying a sequence, moving
- vfo a few hundred Hz, keying another sequence and move back and forth
- simulating what must be a QSO in progress for the purpose of tracking
- them down. :-)
- Of course, somebody is gonna jump on my case about FCC regs here, but
- hey, the FCC will probably be occupied with the bozos, not me. Is the
- FCC going to give up CW like the other agencies???? :-) The
- mind boggles at the possibilities here. Kinda like gun control!
-
- Presented here for your entertainment.
